Beauty Lookbook: 2009

This season it is all about bright eyeshadow, heavy eyeliner, shimmering lips, and neutral tones. During the spring 2009 runway shows, the models graced the runway in tropical inspired shadows or nude "barely there" tones, depending on what they were modeling. When it comes to make-up trends in fashion, I believe it all comes down to personal preference. I for one, do not care for super bright eyeshadow, but then again I am rarely a fan of any shadow at all.

The trick to pulling off this look, without appearing overly flamboyant, is to play down whatever you are not playing up.  For instance, if you are going to rock the bright eyeshadow and heavy liner, then play down your cheeks and lips with much softer neutral colors. Your outfit should also reflect simplicity. It is much like wearing red lipstick. When you are wearing red lipstick, you have to commit to it. Everything else about your look should be effortless, because the focal point is your lips. Well, the same rules apply when you are wearing bright eyeshadow. On the other hand, if you are going for a more neutral look, your outfit can be as embellished as you'd like. There are so many ways to appear as if you don't have any or much make-up on at all. This is where nude gloss, shimmer, neutral matte shadows, and mascara will become your best friends.

When it comes to beauty trends in fashion, there is no right or wrong. Wearing make- up should be about what you feel most comfortable in.  As long as you remember the rule that what gets played up, the other must get played down you will be fine.

Adria's Beauty Essentials:
For those who know me already, they would tell you that the one thing I would never leave the house without is lipgloss. I have been wearing Chanel Glossimer in Brilliance since I was 13, I am now 22. I guess you could say I am obsessed. My other essentials are NARS bronzer in Casino, NARS multiple shimmer stick in South Beach, NARS blush in Sin, and Maybelline great lash mascara in black, it truly is the best mascara on the market.
